Original Works Exchange Letter

Thank you, dear creator, for making me something! I am truly appreciative of new material for my favorite characters and pairings and hope this letter is helpful to you.

I’ve tried to arrange the sections below as I requested them, in groups of gen / ship without smut / ship with smut / smut with ship, and with details about what kind of tone or story I’m hoping for. The order of relationships within each section is random. I assure you I want all of these equally as much.

At the top of the letter is all the general likes and dislikes separated by category as well. I tried to make it so for any request, you can just read the section and the generals and be good to go, so there’s a little repetition of general notes.

Thank you again!

Table of contents

Likes and DNWs

General Likes: tea, cats, established relationships with a ton of history behind them, expanding on the worldbuilding or character or relationship history, characters’ canonical competence—whether that’s watching them acquire their skills or ply them, characters geeking out on the things they love, languages or communicating around not sharing one, the aftermath of or recovery from or learning to live with permanent or major disability or injury.

General DNW: crossdressing, genderswap, embarrassment, horror, surprise scares, zombies, vampires, amputation, maiming, puncture wounds or gaping wounds, mind control, witchcraft terminology (non-witchcraft magic systems are fine), body-related humor, sickness-related yuck, bodily fluids other than blood, non-canonical infidelity/cheating or other betrayal, graphic violence or gore, unrequested non-canonical relationships. I also have no problem with assassination but do have a problem with murder. I know. Fine line. For this exchange in particular, please no bad/unhappy endings or tragedy.

Kink Likes: foreplay, arousal, desperate arousal, biting, nipping, bondage, breathplay, sensory deprivation, bloodplay, weapons play (especially the weapons associated with a particular character) with clean wounds, delayed orgasm, overstimulation, some D/s, situational power dynamics type dub-con, phone sex, wall sex, girl on top, very very quiet sex, using powers during sex, wing kink, consensual somnophilia, voyeurism, heat sex / mating cycles / kemmer / canon-compliant a/b/o, first time heat.

Kink DNWs: I’ll read but am not a fan of oral, cock rings/cages. Please don’t use stock porn phrases in dirty talk, scat, water sports, sex toys, bodily fluids other than blood (am fine knowing there’s fluids in sex, just don’t want to read any graphic descriptions at all), lifestyle D/s, ageplay, mpreg, consent play, incest, underage, non-canon compliant a/b/o or anti-omega prejudice, straight up dub-con, the endearment “babe” or “baby” if not canonical.

Trope Likes: superhumans, wingfic, living weapons, competence, soulmates, soulmarks (not names), soulbonds, secret relationships, sharing a bed, domestic fic, holiday fic, arranged marriage, fake marriage, friends/rivals to lovers, AIs and androids and living ships, etc. (no fleshy ships please), accidental relationships, time travel with consequences, fantasy/mythology AUs, missing sense (especially deafness or blindness), animal transformations/shapeshifter, brainwashing recovery/aftermath, amnesia, crossovers/fusions with a focus on worldbuilding or how the new characters change the shape of the world and story, canon-divergent AUs.

Trope DNWs: unrequested alternate gender norms, mind control, zombies, supernatural, daemons, post-apocalyptic, instalove.

Truly, feel free to incorporate any of my above general likes. These are general things I love in short fiction and especially applicable to original fiction.

Gen Relationships

SFF Worldbuilding

General Notes

Science Fiction/Fantasy: I am a sucker for good science fiction fantasy short stories with an emphasis on worldbuilding and lots of details. I love when relationships are at the heart of the story, but truly plot not required. I want to revel in the world here. In all cases, I’m looking for feels and a happy or realistic but not bad ending please.

If you read a lot of science fiction fantasy yourself, my favorite periodical is Beneath Ceaseless Skies (without the gore) for fantasy and Uncanny Magazine for science fiction when it comes to general tone, language, etc.

Worldbuilding: I love it when stories incorporate cultural details, details on how the world works like the economy, industry, religion, or social circles and rules, and language details, whether that’s just the acknowledgement of how language is used or actual conlanging. I prefer getting dropped into a fully formed world that doesn’t always bother to explain everything, and love it when differing cultures and viewpoints within the world clash. I adore internally consistent pseudo-science and technobabble, origin stories, alternate races, and well-developed power systems for magic, technology.

First Female Zoologist and Anthropologist to Study Dragons & Dragon Clan

So a Jane Goodall with dragons essentially, where she studies the clan and gets to know them and maybe includes notes and/or sketches. I adore dragon worldbuilding and dragons in general. This is one place where I’d love it as meta or in-universe academic or as personal showing off of the dragon characters and relationships as you want to go.

Marine Biologist & Deep Sea Mermaids

Same thing but with mermaids. I do prefer less siren, more mermaid of whatever tradition you want to go with, and while I love it when it actually reflects how science should work, I would really adore anything for them with an internally consistent worldbuilding. Also feel free to include notes or sketches or lots of anecdotes. This is one place where I’d love it as meta or in-universe academic or as personal showing off of the mermaid characters and relationships as you want to go.

SFF Worldbuilding with Character Development and Feels

Character Study/Development: I love seeing what makes characters tick and exploring how their particular upbringing or culture or biology or power makes them who they are or gives them challenges to overcome. I love watching characters figure out who they are or where they belong, learning who they are when something fundamental about their view of themself changes, or how they hold onto who they are in the face of others who either oppose or support them. I love seeing how their relationships, whether family, friends, or lovers, figure into all of that.

Girl Lost in Ocean Raised by Mermaids Turned Pirate Captain & Mermaids & Crew

Inspired by this series of art pieces, but feel free to go anywhere you want with this. I’m in love with mermaids, coming of age stories, and fantasy worlds with deep worldbuilding. I’d love to see the kind of person a girl could become and her relationship with her mermaid family and her crew. I’d love to see individual relationships with crew members. Maybe they know she’s a mermaid daughter, maybe they don’t. I’d love to see her upbringing make a real difference in how she runs her crew though and hoping for family and found family feels with a happy for now ending.

Fairy Changeling & Human Who Took Their Place in Fairyland

I’m fascinated by fairies and changelings and I’d love to see the complicated out of place feelings and family relationships that would result in the changeling and human not being switched back at childhood but still meeting each other at some later point. Please feel free to go all in on worldbuilding and feels and character growth and finding their place they belong and some kind of emotional satisfaction.

Female Hyperspace Pilot Who Can No Longer Pilot Due to Injury & Phys Therapist

I adore spaceships, spaceship pilots, and hyperspace. I also really, really love hurt/comfort and recovery fics and learning to live with a permanent disability (preferably without explicit portrayal of acquiring the injury) and going through the whole emotional and physical process of that. The more detailed, the better. I don’t mind if she eventually can figure out how to pilot anyway or find some other way to still interact with hyperspace or if she has to actually cope with not getting it back. And please feel free to technobabble and worldbuild all hyperspace details or memories of flying. I’d love it if she also keeps contact with relationships she had while being an active pilot and doesn’t become isolated in the long run.

Dragon Running a Shelter & Humans It Considers Stray Pets

I love the idea of this dragon running a shelter, taking care of its precious pets, and maybe some opportunity for gentle humor here, and then also learning that humans aren’t pets as it gets to know them more and spends time with them and helps them. I can see it starting out viewing humans a lot like we view cats, so independent and willful but also sweet, before it realizes that they can be friends and equals rather than pets. But frankly, I’m here for the feels and character interactions and general delightful warm fuzzies possible in this one, so more growing into a relationship than anything didactic. I love everything about dragons pretty much. For this prompt, please have them not eat humans.

SFF Worldbuilding with Fluffy Humor and Case/Mission/Job/Adventure

General Notes

Science Fiction/Fantasy: I am a sucker for good science fiction fantasy short stories with an emphasis on worldbuilding and lots of details. I love when relationships are at the heart of the story, but truly plot not required. I want to revel in the world here. If you read a lot of science fiction fantasy yourself, my favorite periodical is Beneath Ceaseless Skies (without the gore) for fantasy and Uncanny Magazine for science fiction when it comes to general tone, language, etc.

Humor/Plot: I love situational humor and banter. When it comes to humor, please avoid all bodily related humor and any at all embarrassment or humiliation. I admire those who can plot well, but despite some of these tags kind of implying actual external action and plot, I’m still far more interested in the world and characters being the main focus.

Magic/Power Systems: I’m equally in love with superhumans and fantastical “science fiction” abilities and science developed to the point of being magic or with fantasy creatures like fairies and dragons and actual magic systems whether predictable and following rules or wild and unpredictable, so go with whatever you love best or makes more sense to you. I’m also happy with handwaves for how a magic or science fiction premise works so long as the way it works is internally consistent.

Hero Who Still Fights Crime Despite Having Been Turned Into A Small Lizard & Her Bemused Enemies

This sounds so absolutely delightful, I just had to request it. I’d love to see all the ways she gets creative. Does she have to file any paperwork or do anything special to get out of the hospital or wherever else they treat transformed heroes in the first place? What do her friends think? Do they help her out? And please amuse and befuddle her enemies as they unwisely underestimate her and her bad self. 😀

Members of a Superhumans Temp Agency

I’d love to see all the real world things superhuman abilities can be used for, the delightful worldbuilding and regulations and minutiae that would go into it, maybe some of the jobs themselves. I’m hoping for something lighthearted and fun. (Note: I find administrative forms fun in this kind of world, so there’s that.)

Dragon & Dragon’s Pet Cat & Cat’s Pet Princess & the Knight Who Plans to Rescue Her

I adore dragons, cats, and dragon-loving princesses exasperated with knights that don’t get it. I’m fine with keeping this totally gen or her knocking some sense up his head and him joining this little unconventional family, whichever floats your boat. I’d also love to see all three of them and how their different habits and cultures of their species interact in the home before or during the knight coming along.

Magic Sword that has found the future king & Guy who really really doesn’t want to be king

A determined and opinionated sword and a poor put-upon guy trying to outwit it or escape it sounds like some delightful capers or shenanigans afoot. I’d love to see how they try to persuade or outscheme the other and how they counter each other.

Supervillain Sister & Superhero Brother

I love it when the people on opposite sides are exasperated and love each other and want to just knock each other upside the head to knock some sense into them and know what makes each other tick and how best to outwit them and get under their skin, and you know they’re going to sit down together at some point for an awkward family dinner and attend each other’s weddings, personal vigilantism and moral alignment aside. And the petty revenge they can pull on each other! Posting each other’s baby pictures, “you’ll never be taken seriously again”, blaring the other’s most hated song as a distraction, etc.

Talking Magic Sword & Put-Upon Hero

The hero’s doing it all wrong, and the magic sword is here to help him or her save the day. Banter, banter, banter, and maybe eventually figuring how to be friends and care about each other by the end of the adventure. With a dose of never going to stop teasing and poking.

SFF Family & Found Family Feels and Case/Mission/Job/Adventure

General Notes

I love when relationships are at the heart of the story, but truly plot not required. I want to revel in the world here. If you read a lot of science fiction fantasy yourself, my favorite periodical is Beneath Ceaseless Skies (without the gore) for fantasy and Uncanny Magazine for science fiction when it comes to general tone, language, etc.

Family/Found Family: I really, really love family and found family feels and those moments of interaction that tell you how close they are, whether or not they admit or realize it and imprinted on a lot of stoic, loner BAMF characters and that one kid that’s got them wrapped, even though the BAMF is still stoic and reserved even with that kid.

Female Spaceship Captain & Stowaway, Orphan Genius Hacker Kid & World-Weary Grizzled Veteran Saddled with Them, Surly Female Badass & Young Male Ward, Surly Male Badass & Young Female Ward

So I am a total sucker for accidental parent, especially when it’s someone that doesn’t really have soft spots and they’re not cuddly even with this kid they’d do anything for, but they’re super protective and caring in their own gruff way. I’d be happy to read kid acquisition, the development of the relationship, warm/fuzzy moments along the way, training the kid, funny moments, realizing they’ve become an accidental parent, outsider POV, rescuing each other, working together, or taking care of each other in any way, or taking care of a situation together.

If setting fic aboard a spaceship, please consider incorporating details about the ship, space, and the worldbuilding. I love spaceships and I love captains who love their spaceships. If writing about the genius hacker kid, I’d love to see them use their hacking skills for something plot important.

Tea-Loving Master Swordswoman & Her Accomplished Ex-Ward Who Wants to Be Treated Like an Adult

Her baby’s gone off and saved China (or whatever equivalent) but he comes home where his mother figure / mentor might be more concerned with whether he’s eating enough, taking care of himself, and minding his manners in polite company, and heaven forbid, he bring home colleagues or friends and she breaks out the funny, embarrassing stories of his youth. I’d love to see a healthy, loving family type relationship where she’s also the one that taught him how to achieve those accomplishments and to be a master swordsman and is proud of him more than he even knows.

Physically Tiny Child & Ancient Powerful Demigod Summoned to Save Child’s People

I love the tiny child that has this powerful person that they slowly develop a caring relationship with and/or that’s protective of them, and I love when there’s this small person who’s acting above their age to try and save their people and the kinds of stories that come out of that. I’d love to see the character and personality of both, and whatever baggage or skills or history the demigod brings to things, and how they come together to save the day.

Deceased Warrior Guarding His Family as a Spirit Afterward

I would love something warm fuzzy and also thoughtful with the family relationships and how they feel or sense him afterward and how he guards them and helps them in whatever situations go on in their lives afterward. Maybe someone comes after his family in revenge for his actions and he protects them. Maybe he protects them from bullies and/or someone after their money. I would love to see the care in their relationships in the way it continues after death.

Former Assassin Retired Due to Permanent Injury & Daughter Cop on Cold Cases

Preferably with the cop not having known what he used to do and them maybe bonding and coming together over her realization (in the end) after some emotional difficulty. I’d love to see a strong family relationship, whether it starts out that way or they get there through the course of the story.

SFF Fluffy Slice of Life

General Notes

SFF Fluff: Fluffy, lighthearted SFF with gentle humor and fantasy or SFF species and characters bring warm fuzzies to my heart, and I love it when they lean a bit on how life is different because of the kind of character it is and preferably includes lots of little details.

Tea-Loving Android & His Cat

I am so fond of androids, tea, and cats, and I’d love to see some warm fuzzy slice of life and maybe some of how others do or don’t get their relationship. Maybe friends come to visit. Maybe the android’s running a tea room and the cat loves all the pets and company. Maybe the android works on a spaceship and interacts with the crew. I’m open to any kind of setting for it.

Hatchling Dragon Imprinted on Rescued Princess & Rescued Princess/Her Husband

I love dragons and hatchling dragon is even better! Maybe the dragon wasn’t home when the dragon egg hatched and the princess is playing midwife and the knight or prince who comes to save her doesn’t do battle at all but hauls a new dragon baby that can’t just be left home alone back to the castle and the dragon mama treats the whole thing as them fostering her kid and maybe feels relief she doesn’t have to spend the next 100 years tied down to raise it. Okay, I’m getting carried away. Just have fun with it! Preferably with no actively killing off mama dragon but fine to just not mention what happened to mama dragon.

Shippy Relationships

Shippy Fluffy Humor with Worldbuilding (Prefer No Sex)

General Notes

SFF Fluff: Fluffy, lighthearted SFF with gentle humor and fantasy or SFF species and characters bring warm fuzzies to my heart, and I love it when they lean a bit on how life is different because of the kind of character it is and preferably includes lots of little details.

Aliens/Xeno: I love humanoid aliens, though preferably with some differences in biology that just aren’t as obvious. Adding wings, scales, reproductive differences, colors, and internal or external organs that have different functions or capabilities is always great. In non-humanoid creatures, like unicorns, traditional dragons, or aliens with a much different form, I prefer an unambiguously romantic but asexual relationship for this exchange. Feel free to play with alien gender as well, such as androgynous, three-gendered, a Leguin-style true hermaphrodite or gender-changing alien, etc.

Bartender/His Regular That Is An Alien With Problems (M/M)

I like the friendly, smooth bartender type and I like the idea of him helping out this alien with his problems, especially if they’re the kind of problems you can poke gentle fun at. A bit of a slowly just realizing he’s falling in love with his bartender and getting awkward and flaily before they finally get it out there that they’re interested would be lovely. Maybe the alien has an overbearing family or mini cases to solve in the course of his job or problems being considered attractive to his own people or being too attractive to the wrong kinds of aliens or is socially awkward and keeps asking for advice and it becomes sneakily asking how to tell the bartender he likes him. I’d love to see some alien cultural details, but whatever strikes your fancy. Mostly I just want some funny fluff.

Squishy Virgin Wizard/Unicorn Protecting Him For His Own Good (M/M)

I love the delightful tone of this. The wizard is squishy! The unicorn must protect this hopelessly vulnerable wizard! I’d love it even more if the wizard is trying to figure out how he got a unicorn attached when that’s only supposed to be a risk to maidens, not all virgins whatsoever, and is actually a bit of a grump and very, very good at magic and feels he’s in no danger at all and the unicorn’s being overprotective. I love competent grumps that get adopted by caring extroverts who are are also competent and this situation reminds me a lot of Wrede’s Enchanted Forest. Humor please! Banter! Disagreements and bickering over who wears the pants in this relationship!

Female Genius Inventor/Hypercompetent Male “Assistant” that Keeps Her Alive (Het)

I love genius inventors, I adore hypercompetent people that get things done and run the show for real. I love seeing wild inventing going on and adore technobabble and internally consistent “science” and how all the details fit together, and I love relationships where one person is hopeless in key practical areas to their significant other’s exasperation and yet hypercompetent in their own areas that means both bring something to the relationship. I adored the delightful piece written for this pairing previously and I’d love more.

Lifeguard/Mermaid Who Keeps Pretending To Be A Drowning Human So She Can Grope Him (Het)

This strikes me as just adorably funny and delightful, and I’d love to see his growing exasperation and her outrageous flirting, and how the other mermaids think about her crush. I’d love a get together or a happy flirtation that doesn’t turn into commitment.

SFF Complicated Established or Reconciliation Relationships (Sex Optional)

General Notes

Science Fiction/Fantasy: I am a sucker for good science fiction fantasy short stories with an emphasis on worldbuilding and lots of details. I love when relationships are at the heart of the story, but truly plot not required. I want to revel in the world here. In all cases, I’m looking for feels and a happy or realistic but not bad ending please.

If you read a lot of science fiction fantasy yourself, my favorite periodical is Beneath Ceaseless Skies (without the gore) for fantasy and Uncanny Magazine for science fiction when it comes to general tone, language, etc.

Established Relationships: I absolutely love established relationships where you can feel the history between them—in little things they know about each other or do around each other without even thinking about it, in inside references and little details showing up throughout that imply stories we aren’t being told right now. I love it when there’s palpable tension between two people that are on the outs for any reason, where they gloss over big discussions or use a simple line or detail to stand in for a whole story or chunk of history. I prefer not to have “as you know Bob” coredumps on history, though I don’t mind exposition here and there. I love tension and these longstanding pet peeves to also show up, where just because they’ve been together a long time or known each other forever, doesn’t mean they always get along without having to work at it.

Spaceship AI with Holographic Manifestation/Pilot that Doesn’t Know They’re AI (Other)

I really love the idea of this. Maybe the spaceship AI doesn’t realize the pilot doesn’t know they’re the pilot ship until after they’re in love, and now they’re scared they’ll get dumped if the pilot figures it out. Maybe the pilot doesn’t know but the spaceship thinks they do know. I’d love to see whichever way you play it and the logistics of making a relationship like that work, and how the AI feels about kissing and sex and would love to see them actually in a flight somewhere in the story if you could. Really hoping for a few emotional bumps and angst, maybe even a crisis when the pilot figures it out or finds out and has to decide whether to keep the relationship, but a happy ending with them still together.

Trickster God/Male Reincarnated God of Death (M/M)

I’d love to see these in an established relationship even if they don’t see each other all the time and their lives intersect then separate at intervals or in cycles. I’d love if this is a big deal for both them and their world. I love reincarnation where they remember everything, where they remember nothing and have to re-establish everything, or where they start remembering nothing and have to get their memories back. I’d love tender moments, tender moments that don’t seem that way because of surface tricks or hiding emotions or even being at odds, but there’s stuff that shows they care or takes care of each other that isn’t obvious or is plausibly deniable. I love gods showing their power and using their power and being unapologetic about what it is they represent. I love trickster god stories of many real bodies of myth, including shapeshifting and that they’re not necessarily nice. I’d prefer them to be largely humanoid if you write any sex scenes please.

Exiled Spy/Their First Love Who Betrayed Them Years Ago But Now Wants Them Back (M/M)

The backstory this seems to imply to me is that someone was a spy (preferably for good reasons or a good cause in their own eyes!), fell in love (and preferably one of those real, deep, know each other better than anyone else relationships, and swept off their feet—it was their first love), then the first love figured out they were a spy and revealed (betrayed) them and got them exiled. Why does he want him back? Maybe their differing factions or countries are now in a new or tentative peace. Maybe the love has switched sides. Maybe the exile was lifted because of a new king or ruler or change in the governmental body. I’d love to see flashbacks or glimpses of their history and also the attempt to win back this spy that isn’t going to make it easy on them and is biting and resentful and knows how to hurt them with their words and actions because they were in love once and knew each other well. But most of all, I just want to feel their history and old hurts and wounds in the now time interactions and see the former spy start to thaw or be won over by the other.

Estranged Female Mentee Turned Supervillain/Female Mentor Superhero (F/F)

I’m so fond of estranged close as family relationships turned to being on opposite sides, especially when both think they’re right and get hurt and downright vicious with each other but still care so much underneath it all and sometimes on the surface, willing to save each other, occasionally reach out with fraught words that mask over how much the reaction matters to them, and yet refusing to admit how much they care out loud or beyond the bounds of plausible deniability. I like it when there was a crush beforehand but nothing that actually came to fruition or full realization before the split. I love to see reconciliation because they’re forced to work together or finally talk through what went wrong (but not without great reluctance or pressure or catalyzing them doing so, I prefer when people who don’t talk their issues through don’t just suddenly do it because plot).

Female Rebel Leader/Female Loyalist General Who Was Her Childhood Best Friend (F/F)

I love it where both truly believe they’re doing the right thing, and maybe there was always some kind of tension between them, but neither recognized it because they were kinda still kids, but they were each other’s most important person and now they’re on opposite sides fighting for what they believe in. Maybe they get thrown together by surviving a battle together, by a big storm, or the rebel leader captures the general and holds her civilly for a short time while negotiating a prisoner exchange and they have to deal with their history. I like the idea of either trying to reach out to the other to change their mind and win the other back to their side. Maybe the political situation on either side has serious consequences for the people they care about and they’re both prioritizing important things. If only one tries to maintain their closeness through everything, I’d rather it be the rebel leader, but honestly, it’d be nice if both weren’t willing to hurt each other, raze each other’s sides to the ground but not each other, and kept holding out hope they’d reconcile.

Married Husbands Wanting Divorce/Computer-Assigned Compatible Third Spouse to Save Marriage (M/M), Married Couple Wanting Divorce/Computer-Assigned Compatible Third Spouse to Save Marriage (Het)

I’d love to see how a world works that has computer-assigned compatible third spouses and everyone awkwardly giving this arranged marriage a try. I’d love to see each one of the existing spouses building a relationship with the new one and how they all three work through their issues to build a marriage that can survive. I’d love a happy ending where they’ve reached a point of making it work.

Master Swordsman/Master Swordsman That Won’t Let Anyone Else Kill Each Other (M/M), Female Master Swordsman/Male Master Swordsman That Won’t Let Anyone Else Kill Each Other (Het)

I’m a total sucker for this trope where no one else is allowed to kill their worthy enemy combatant. I’d love to know how they got to that point, see some mutual respect and killing each other’s enemies maybe. I’m a total sucker for swordfights and swordsmanship porn. I love characters that ostensibly plan to kill each other but there’s this honorable duel mentality and sense of honor and the sense after a while that they don’t actually want to kill each other so much as claim each other forever that way. It’s just very, very much something I love anytime I encounter this in fiction. I’m just as happy whether they sleep together and acknowledge the mutual admiration/pining or don’t.

SFF Get Together with Feels and Worldbuilding (Sex Optional)

General Notes

Science Fiction/Fantasy: I am a sucker for good science fiction fantasy short stories with an emphasis on worldbuilding and lots of details. I love when relationships are at the heart of the story, but truly plot not required. I want to revel in the world here. In all cases, I’m looking for feels and a happy or realistic but not bad ending please.

If you read a lot of science fiction fantasy yourself, my favorite periodical is Beneath Ceaseless Skies (without the gore) for fantasy and Uncanny Magazine for science fiction when it comes to general tone, language, etc.

Get Together Shipfic: I love relationship fics where characters have real differences in personalities, temperaments, cultures, even morals and values that they have to work through in order to have a relationship, where what keeps them apart aren’t silly misunderstandings but having to get to know each other and overcome trust issues or their own personal emotional difficulties. I would love to see sex in these stories but preferably after it’s been earned. If you just get them to the kissing stage, that’s fine too and I love a good kissing scene!

Newly Independent Guy Who’s Never Had an SO/SO He Makes Up that Turns Out to be Real (M/M), Newly Independent Young Woman/Boyfriend She Makes Up that Turns Out to be Real (Het)

This is one of my just about bulletproof tropes. I love to see how it works out that they’re real, whether the “made up” significant other comes into existence in response and thinks they were always real, it was a monstrous coincidence that nevertheless solves the significant other’s problem so they cash in on the accidental offer, or the real person suddenly thinks they’ve been in a relationship all this time as reality sort of rewrites itself around the person’s story of it and they have to sort out that. I love it when there are awkward, sudden intimacies that the main character didn’t plan for but can’t entirely turn down without bringing down the house of cards and when the two characters in the relationship end up together after working through initial difficulties of either sorting out reality in the more fantasy case or sorting out their issues in the case of someone who needed their own ticket out of family or life obligation problems that getting handed a significant other just happened to provide.

Maybe the one who made them up sent letters to their “fake” person and they’re panicked because the matriarch of the family has summoned them to meet and it might be time to “break off” the relationship but then the supposedly nonexistent boyfriend/fiance shows up. Maybe they make up a story to get out of a horrible arranged marriage (or some other plausible thing that preferably isn’t just family overinvested in them dating) and wake up with someone making breakfast or showering. Maybe they make up the story and someone shows up to take them out and can’t quite figure out why they’re surprised to be doing it.

Changeling Who Stays with His Adoptive Family/Standoffish Fellow Mage Student (M/M)

I love the idea of a changeling who stays with his human family and always feels a bit fish out of water and like he doesn’t belong, with fae instincts and human upbringing and magic that’s powerful, even more powerful than usual, but doesn’t fit in. I’d love to see the standoffish fellow mage student as having good reasons of his own for his standoffishness, maybe a negligent family or other reason to feel like he doesn’t belong, and they get thrown together for magic or schoolwork and help each other as they fall in love despite themselves. Maybe fae use wild magic as capricious as they are and human mages use a rules-based magic system. I’d love to see worldbuilding, magic details, culture clashes, maybe even a hint of how the changeling doesn’t fit in with fae any more than he does humans, and some of the way things work at the school and how they do or don’t fit into that.

God/Young Man Who is Their Accidental Shrine (M/M), God/Woman Who is Their Accidental Shrine (Het)

I love the idea of this, the worldbuilding that leads to essentially an accidental soulbond with a god and being the source of their power. I’d rather if the god wasn’t taking advantage of the human in this and it truly was an accident that they also can’t figure out how to undo, if they try at all. I’d love to see how the human adapts to this situation, how they become aware of it in the first place, and how they fall for this god that’s always around now. I’d also love a bit of identity porn if they don’t wholly realize this is a god or the god that’s gotten them into this mess at first. I’d also love it if this is a person that can emotionally and relationally go toe to toe with the god and get mad at them for however they caused this, and the god reacts to this thoroughly unimpressed person accordingly instead of trying to dominate them.

An Almost Forgotten God/His Male Last Worshipper (M/M), An Almost Forgotten God/His Female Last Worshipper (Het)

I’d love an established worshipper that was the last surviving person raised with an understanding of this god and is much doted on and cared for by the god, or someone finding this god and becoming their sole worshipper with more of a natural give/take relationship. I’d love if the falling in love bit was initiated by the worshipper and happened more gradually on the god’s side. I’d love to see worldbuilding. I personally love gods that can take human form but their true selves may or may not look quite different from that.

Long Imprisoned Ancient War Goddess/Man Who Unwittingly Frees Her (Het)

It definitely makes me curious why she was imprisoned. Did she lose the war? Was she deemed too dangerous for the world? Did she wreak havoc on the world on behalf of her worshippers? I love war gods and goddesses that have their own straightforward morality and are protective and loyal to those they care for, but fierce against any kind of enemies. I’d love to see a man who in some way she would come to consider worthy of her. And what was he doing that led him to free her? On accident even! Was he somewhere he should have known not to be? Or has she been there so long even the stories have faded?

SFF Relationship Drama: Partners/Friends to Lovers (Sex Optional)

General Notes

Science Fiction/Fantasy: I am a sucker for good science fiction fantasy short stories with an emphasis on worldbuilding and lots of details. I love when relationships are at the heart of the story, but truly plot not required. I want to revel in the world here. In all cases, I’m looking for feels and a happy or realistic but not bad ending please.

If you read a lot of science fiction fantasy yourself, my favorite periodical is Beneath Ceaseless Skies (without the gore) for fantasy and Uncanny Magazine for science fiction when it comes to general tone, language, etc.

“Just Met” Get Together Shipfic: I love relationship fics where characters have real differences in personalities, temperaments, cultures, even morals and values that they have to work through in order to have a relationship, where what keeps them apart aren’t silly misunderstandings but having to get to know each other and overcome trust issues or their own personal emotional difficulties. I would love to see sex in these stories but preferably after it’s been earned. If you just get them to the kissing stage, that’s fine too and I love a good kissing scene!

“Know Each Other Well” Get Together Shipfic: For most of these requests, there’s a big element of an established friend or partner relationship (or a previous relationship gone south) that one party wants to be romantic. I love pining! I love characters being in the situation where nakedness or vulnerability could come up and the pining character feels awkward or horrified but turned on because the other party doesn’t know their true feelings. I love when they don’t want to ruin their relationship or truly believe it’s unrequited and it’s not just stupidity that they don’t say something. I love it when both are in the same boat and it’s mutual or when it’s truly one-sided, so long as the friendship or partnership survives them deciding whether or not they love the other one back, regardless of which they choose. I love platonically married partners or estranged friends that could have been more and now get another shot at reconciling their differences and becoming something more. I love it messy and angsty and complicated and knowing each other enough to hurt each other, and I love it leavened with some gentle humor if I can get it and a happy ending.

Spaceship AI in love with its pilot & Spaceship Pilot/Their lover (Mixed Gen + Ship)

Angsty, self-conflicted pining and voyeurism and internal virtual handwringing and eventually coming clean and reconciling and the pilot dealing with the fact that the ship has a crush on them (okay, is downright in love and will do anything for them, including wanting them to maintain their relationship because it makes them happy and that’s creepy but they care about each other too much to let go). Hoping for some lighthearted and melodramatic fun and feels here. Prefer a het relationship for the pilot/lover and an agender spaceship. Ending up in a legit poly relationship also fine. Would particularly love to see this from the POV of the spaceship.

Idealistic Newly-Crowned Young Ruler/His More Practical Adviser and Childhood Friend (M/M)

I love the whole moving from an established relationship to a romantic one, especially if one or both parties are oblivious to their feelings, and I’d love to see the young ruler trying to implement all this sweeping change and his poor overworked advisor fighting the good fight of trying to get him to see reason and also make the best of implementing all the stuff he couldn’t get him to see reason on. And at some point near the end of the rope, maybe it sparks the change in their relationship.

Female Hyperspace Test Pilot/Sentient Hyperspace Ship (Other), Female Hyperspace Test Pilot/Male Sentient Hyperspace Ship (Het), Living Spaceship/Spaceship’s Pilot (Other)

I’m a sucker for living spaceships, whether it’s a ship integrated with a human avatar or a straight up space ship with an android avatar, a holographic avatar, or no avatar. I like ships that have a personal sense of identity and gender or ships that are agender because they don’t come in gendered varieties. I love spaceships with personality and especially snark and hypercompetence in them and their pilots. I love the reckless bold driving that comes with test pilots. I’d love to see hyperspace flights in fic and worldbuilding details and this super synced partner relationship but with their own fair share of tension over different ideas, bickering, or someone’s history or a maneuver coming back to bite them. I adore hurt/comfort whether it’s pilot comforting ship, vice versa, or mutual.

Shameless Smut with Feels and Relationship Development (Sex Requested)

General Notes

Science Fiction/Fantasy: I am a sucker for good science fiction fantasy short stories with an emphasis on worldbuilding and lots of details. I love when relationships are at the heart of the story, but truly plot not required. I want to revel in the world here. In all cases, I’m looking for feels and a happy or realistic but not bad ending please.

If you read a lot of science fiction fantasy yourself, my favorite periodical is Beneath Ceaseless Skies (without the gore) for fantasy and Uncanny Magazine for science fiction when it comes to general tone, language, etc.

Alpha/Beta/Omega Worldbuilding: I’m into scenting, knotting, desperate heat sex, desperate arousal, and did I mention desperation? Also love claiming with bites or temporary soulbond lite, do like description of scents and pheromones, lots of body worship because the heat’s made someone irresistible, and enjoy a bit of a case of dysphoria or body horror over how their body is out of their control and really doesn’t care about what they want intellectually.

If there’s a beta in the ship, I prefer betas that are considered part of the ideal threesome and aren’t sidelined as caretaker or “normal.” Prefer no unrequested pregnancy, systemic oppression of and prejudice toward omegas, and please don’t use any dog/wolf/puppy terminology or focus on scent glands, kinking on breeding the omega, or “presenting”.

Parents of Alpha in First Rut & Their Son/Omega Male They Capture for Him That Conceives from It (Mixed Gen + M/M)

So if alphas and omegas are rare and enough so that they aren’t quite seen as human enough for the parents to regret doing this sort of thing (and maybe kind of view their kid as “how did we give birth to that?” and are neglectful of all but basic needs and having a heat/rut partner is a basic need), and their kid is not complicit so much as a mutual victim with lots of desperation and do not want on the omega’s part with mpreg body horror but the two kids eventually come to something of a relationship, and yeah, request is pure id. For a first rut/heat, it seems natural they’d be underage teenagers, but please no extreme underage. I really love mutual hurt/comfort and mutual whump and mutual noncon scenarios where the victims may feel guilty but eventually work out how to support and care for each other in their situation.

Alpha/His Beta best friend who offers to “practice” sex with him in preparation for his future Omega (M/M)

I love when friends who are secretly or unknowingly in love with each other try practicing kisses and sex for supposedly nonsexual reasons and they trust each other and it’s safe and then whoops! feelings. I don’t mind teenage underage for this ship. I’d love to see a lot of their friendship and relationship and that they have history and know each other all too well, but they’re in serious denial.

Male Confused Sex Slave/Male Unwilling New Owner (M/M), Confused Sex Slave/Unwilling New Owner (Het)

For the het, I’d prefer a female owner. I like the idea of someone who lives in a slave-keeping society but is in the category of people that really isn’t interested in holding slaves whether because they’re an abolitionist or they’re young and just don’t like the idea of having their own and ordering them around because they grew up with their slaves being family to them and haven’t yet acquired a hardened owner’s mentality but were gifted the slave. I’m fine with teenage underage, please no extreme underage, and while it’s inherently noncon, I’d prefer no violent violation or rape scenes and would prefer if the slave was the one pushing for sex. (Possibly for logistical reasons, that being used properly ensures a better life overall and everybody happier.)

Newly Crowned Merfolk King/Reluctant Arranged Human Husband to Cement Treaty (M/M)

I love arranged marriages and culture clashes and I’d love to see worldbuilding and details for merfolk society and their royalty and how it all works and whether the husband is supposed to stick around and how they arrange accommodating his oxygen needs. I would prefer if neither changes form and there is a proper wedding night before they’ve had anything like a chance to get to know each other, but they still do get to know each other afterward and end up with something like a real relationship. For this prompt, I don’t mind it being dubconny as an arranged marriage, please no skipping the wedding night because they’re enlightened and don’t want someone unwilling: let it be as awkward and necessary as it would be realistically, but please no outright noncon.

Young King Who Needs to Prove Himself/Older Queen Who’s Conquered Everything (Het), Young King Who Needs to Prove Himself/Older Queen Who’s Conquered Everything/Mediating Mutual Friend (Het)

I love the idea of an up and coming king and a queen who’s been there done that and isn’t easily impressed. Maybe he’s trying to build or cement an alliance. Maybe there’s some sort of social affair that would have multiple heads of state present. Maybe this is just a regular diplomatic visit but it might put him in a bad light with other nations than theirs if he can’t hold his own against her. I love a good poly relationship where all three relationships within are important and all three together are greater than the sum of their parts, so I’d be happy with or without the mediating friend. I’d love to see some sparks fly too. In threesome sex, I prefer when no one’s left out and everyone gets attention. For this prompt, I’d prefer consensual sex between adults.
